YOU SHOULD BRING: Woollen underwear & towel
WE PROVIDE: 'fresh' water & all rafting equipment
TOUR DESCRIPTION:
The Boss Hog trip takes in the top end of the river as with the ELVEPURKA trip, after which we portage (take the rafts out of the river), drive further down-river and get the rafts back in the water. The river takes us down through a canyon where we encounter the best rapids of the day, perhaps the best in Norway! Class 4 white-water rapids one after another ensures everyone gets a Glacial White Water experience and the scenery to boot.
Why not try a kayaking and glacier walking trip with ICETROLL, in addition to the rafting, and join the 'Stiff Nipple Triple' club! Discounts apply!

With warm rain over summer the glaciers melt heavily and we have near flood conditions. This particular trip was the limit for water-level/flow. Somewhere in this pic is a raft and 6 persons. You can see a hand and paddle breaking through the wave and the guides helmet further back
The glacier melt water that supplies the river impacts more than just the temperature. While other rafting rivers over Norway have low flow in mid-summer as their snow-melt disappears, we have glacier melt at its heaviest over the same period. This means some raging water that is not so 'white'. The grey/milky colour is from the fine silt the glacier has ground. The silt is so fine it actually floats in water, giving beautiful, bright, turqoise colours in nice weather, or milky soup in floods.
The opportunity to swim comes at no extra cost. Value for money.

If the river level is good, we can try to surf on some waves. You have to work with the guide to get onto the wave - but then most likely hang on for dear life to avoid swimming, as the raft acts like a rodeo bull trying to get you off its back.
